Advertising
Most blogs feature some form of advertising as a means of financial support or to promote the ideals of the blogger. However, some blogs are created solely for the purpose of advertising. These advertising blogs are often presented in the guise of a legitimate, topical blog, but closer inspection reveals that the blog is promoting one particular product or company that is related to the topic.
Blogs have broken the barrier that had once existed between companies, advertisers and the public. Advertisers can also be hired to make it seem like a company is bypassing the advertisers and presenting their products directly to the public. Whether the direct marketing is real or not, the method appeals to many consumers who have become inherently distrustful of professional marketing companies.
Many bloggers have voiced a critical opinion of how blogs are being used in or for advertising. These bloggers have worked long and hard to legitimize blogs, and it is felt that the infiltration of advertisers will destroy the credibility of the blogosphere.
